This is really a complex topic.
I try to be short, it is not only important, but it is fundamental.
1) Let's make a case study of a perfect situation:
I find a model -> I release 1-2 scenes and sales are consistent -> I create a program of 10-15 scenes to shoot in the next months with the intention to maximise the exposure of the model and so the total profit. This program is based on a "growing of sex acts and perversions". In this way, I try to sell let's say 15 scenes, getting 1000$ profit for every scene. The model will be paid for 15 scenes.
2) This is instead the terrible situation
I find a model -> I release 1-2 scenes and sales are consistent -> I create a program of 10-15 scenes to shoot in the next months with the intention to maximise the exposure of the model and so the total profit. This program is based on a "growing of sex acts and perversions" of sex acts and perversions -> the model shoot for "different studio" a scene which I would shoot 3 months after -> means the model skipped several scenes in my program -> the other studio got like 3000$ profit and the model lost several scenes and so lot of profit. I do not even count my loss (as original recruiter of the model, I am the one more penalised)
Now, who gain more money between situation 2 and 1?
With Option 2, the "different studio" if the one with the higher return of investment while the model "lose" several scenes. So in few words, the other studio gains more than what I would gain on a single scene and the model would lose several scenes.
With Option 1, the model maximise the profit and I get the return on long term investment. So, in few words, the model gets a lot of scenes and I have a low profit on each scene.
Update 16.05.2023
there is another consideration we need to take in accounting. Some studios are selling not only "single scenes", but also membership that gives access to multiple scenes. A model that is available into a membership acess (from any studio), lose the potential to make good sales on other studios. This is what I see clearly from my statistic.
